The School of Sociology and Social Policy is a vibrant, diverse, and exciting centre for social science teaching and research. We are a multidisciplinary School covering criminology, sociology, public policy and administration, social policy, and social work.

As the School enters a period of growth, we are looking for an enthusiastic scholar to join our growing team working in criminology. The successful applicant will be expected to make a significant contribution to research and/or teaching in the School, taking responsibility for the quality of the education we provide, and for identifying new opportunities and sources of funding for research, as well as contributing to high-quality submissions to future assessments of research excellence. They will also play an active role in school operations, for example by taking on a significant administrative role in relation to research and/or teaching. Teaching on our very popular undergraduate programmes will be an immediate priority.
We welcome applications from candidates with interests in any area of criminology, a commitment to research, and/or a strong background in delivering educational programmes at postgraduate and undergraduate level, along with experience of academic administration.
We welcome applicants working in any field of criminology and are keen to develop research and teaching interests and capacity within the criminology team in feminist criminology, race and ethnicity, southern, Asian and postcolonial criminology, prison health and governance, restorative justice, border criminology, victimology, and queer criminology.
This is a permanent opportunity available from the 01 June 2021. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours); however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may be considered.
